Following the movie, SWIP hosted a letter writing event to engage with senators about the Women’s Health Protection Act. Access the letter template here!

Speaker Event with Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis

California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis spoke with SWIP about her career, from working as the President of a real estate company to becoming second-in-command to Governor Gavin Newsom! Kounalakis is the first woman elected Lieutenant Governor, and previously was the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary from 2010-2013. We were inspired by her leadership and determination, particularly in her focus on providing affordable housing to Californians.

Conversation with Valerie Jarrett

SWIP members had the incredible opportunity to speak one-on-one with Valerie Jarrett, the longest serving senior advisor to President Obama as well as the assistant to the president for public engagement and intergovernmental affairs from 2009 to 2017.

She gave insights into working alongside Obama in the White House, highlights of her career, and her plans for the future. At the end of the call, one of her classmates from her time at Stanford offered to buy the whole SWIP team a copy of Ms. Jarrett’s book! Stanford Daily article about our event!
